With just over 3 weeks to go before the 2008 Tenby Boxing Day Swim takes place, the five charities chosen to receive sponsor donations for 2008 are:

Barnardo’s Cymru
Working in Wales with vulnerable children, young people, families and communities.

The British Retinitis Pigmentosa Society (BRPS)
Dedicated to treating and curing people with the genetic eye disease.

Plant Dewi
Working with families and young people in Pembrokeshire.

Sandy Bear and Friends
A bereavement loss service for children, young people and their families in Pembrokeshire.

The Tinkers Hill Trust
Supporting Maria Evans’ bird of prey and swan rescue centre at Amroth.

As a tribute to Round the world adventurer Rosie Swale Pope, who will lead the swimmers into the water off Tenby’s North Beach at 11.30am on Boxing Day, the fancy dress theme is around the world.

Other events get underway at 11am with a crazy raft race, canoe and sailing races and a lifeboat launch, ahead of the fancy dress parade.

Medals will be presented to all swimmers who can congratulate each other whilst drying off around the beach bonfire.

Swimmers can collect sponsor money for the Tenby Sea Swimming Association, charities nominated by the organisers or for their own good causes.
